Welcome To the 2018  Lexington Community Fair

The summer highlight for our hometown is quickly approaching!!! All-the more reason, to boost this town wide social event. There are endless ways to create memories with your children, your friends, your classmates and all members of our community. From live music and turtle races, to the aroma of funnel cakes and blocks full of talented vendors; we are focused on “Fun”!!! After all, aren’t those fun summer nights some of your favorite small-town memories?

This year marks Lexington Community Fair’s 10th Birthday. That’s a reason to celebrate all things Lexington!!!! Preparations have been in the works for more than a year to make our celebration memorable from beginning to end. With this year’s edition of Lexington’s official end-of-summer festival, historic downtown Lexington will come alive the week of August 12th  to 18th with the sights, sounds, lights, laughter and fellowships of the Lexington Community Fair.

This year’s festival promises to be even more exciting than last year’s with returning events like the Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show, Soap Box Derby, LHS Cheerleaders Salad Luncheon. Elk’s 749 Duck Dash and Cardboard Races and the Knights of Columbus Fish Fry. Many of the usual activities for young and old are also back for fair-goers enjoyment. Don’t miss the parade on Saturday, August 18th at 11:00 a.m. in downtown Lexington. Headlining this year’s Lexington Community Fair Parade as Grand Marshall’s are Clyde and Sharon Charles. This year’s parade promises to be even more entertaining with the return of the crowd-pleasing Ararat Shriners of Kansas City, with their array of clowns, tiny cars, motorcycles and classic cars. This year’s parade theme is “HOW TIME FLIES”. Design your entries to express your personality, your business or just come up with something wacky. We want to see who YOU are, Lexington!!!! Here’s your chance to help celebrate 10 years of community fun!!!!

There are plenty of activities for children, including the carnival, The Kid’s Community Fun Fest, Kiddie Parade, Frog and Turtle Races and the Ping Pong Ball Drop  just to name a few! Other events are fun for everyone such as Stage Shows, Washer Tournament, The Strutt Your Mutt Dog Show, The Baby Show, Pool Tournaments, Beer Garden, Horseshoe Tournament, etc (Please check the Schedule of Events for time and locations of all activities.) Look for new and exciting events like the Animal Wonders, Chicken Chip Bingo and the Quilt Show and sure to be a big hit the Lexington Community Fair Talent Show. And of course, no festival is complete without the large number of arts and crafts booths and the delicious aroma of food from the many vendors and local restaurants.

As always, our fair would not continue to grow without the many hours that our “Valuable Volunteers” give to us every year! Our fair officers and committee members contribute may volunteer hours and host many fundraising events to continue the progress of our fair. Another important part of our fair is our many sponsors. Year after year we have individuals, groups and businesses sponsor our many contests and help cover major expenses  that we have during fair week. We, the Fair Board, extend a warm “THANK YOU” for your continued support and would like to extend a “VERY WARM WELCOME” to attend our Festival. Thanks also goes to the Lexington News Staff for their efforts in advertising and promoting this event. Special thanks goes to Gary Worth for creating our Facebook page and Website ( and to all those who have attended and supported past festivals and made it the success that it is today.

We invite you to visit Lexington for a fun-filled and exciting series of events that will prove Lexington is the place to be the 3rd  week of August 2018. Walk around, visit the carnival, and take in some of many entertaining events planned. Most of all have a great time.

Get ready for our 5th year hosting this show.

And as every year since our first show, it's growing!

With all of the high quality entries last year, we expect this year to be even tougher on our judges. One thing is for sure though, EVERYONE (judges, spectators, kids, even other people entered in the same class!) Enjoyed what they saw. And what everyone saw was a lot! There was everything from original unrestored mint condition cars, to extreme muscle cars, from completely custom trucks to exotic imports. There was definitely something for everyone, and we anticipate the same this year.

A little about the show this year, we are offering 13 classes and 7 additional specialty awards (including our officer voted, "most likely to get pulled over" award). This makes for a hard day of judging for our out-of-town judges so please be nice to them.

All of our entries will be entered into a drawing for door prizes, along with goody bags for the first 50 to enter. There will be a gun raffle hosted by Bakers armory, they are donating a pair of his and hers handguns to the winner this year. And as always a 50/50 raffle to boot.

We pride ourselves on honest judging, so our judges come from all over, not knowing each other, or the cars they are judging, simply to be as fair and consistent as possible.

We also welcome everyone to enter, whether it's your first time showing, or you are a seasoned vet. We all appreciate the rides, and the road to where they are now. All the hours we put in to get the smallest of details right.

If you have made it before in the past, be sure to spread the word on how good of a time you had, how great the atmosphere was, and awesome the people are. We look forward to seeing you again, and all of the first time attendees as well.
